marginRefund policy
Fourteen days, no questions, on every plan.
The short version
If you buy Margin and it isn't for you, tell me within 14 days and I'll refund you in full. You don't need to fill in a form or give a reason.
How it works
Email feedback@gomargin.app from the address you bought with, or reply to the receipt Polar sent you. Say which purchase it is.
Polar is the merchant of record for Margin, so Polar issues the refund. It goes back to the card or account you paid with, usually within 5 to 10 business days depending on your bank.
What the 14 days covers
- A lifetime licence: 14 days from the day you bought it.
- A subscription: 14 days from any charge, the first one or a renewal. If a renewal takes you by surprise, write to me within 14 days of it and I'll refund that charge and cancel the subscription.
- Alpha and early-supporter purchases: the same 14 days as everything else.
If you're in the EU or the UK, you have a legal right to withdraw from an online purchase within 14 days. Whatever the checkout says, this policy gives you the full 14 days.
After 14 days
I don't offer refunds after 14 days, with one exception: if Margin is genuinely broken for you and I can't fix it, email me and we'll sort something out.
Subscriptions can be cancelled at any time from your Polar customer portal (the "Manage" link in Margin's settings takes you there). Cancelling stops the next charge. You keep access until the end of the period you've already paid for. There's no partial refund for the rest of a period, except where the law requires one.
After a refund
Your licence ends and Margin locks within a day, on every Mac it was activated on. Your notes are plain Markdown files in folders on your Mac, so nothing happens to them; the lock screen shows where they are, and any editor opens them.
A request about chargebacks
Please email me before disputing a charge with your bank. A refund takes me a minute. A dispute costs a fee and takes weeks to reach the same result. I'd rather just give you your money back.
